It has been a long time coming, but finally there are signs of Spring.
Trees have burst into leaf and I have buds on my rose bush, Gertrude Jekyll. At the beginning of the week, they were almost invisible, but they are growing apace. This will be the first full year, and I can’t wait to see and smell the pretty, showy, pink blooms. My garden is tiny, so I am hoping that when the bush is a little bigger, it will fill the place with a heavenly scent.
I bought a small star jasmine plant which I have popped in a pot and placed near the small table and chairs. That should, all being well, give me some beautiful white, scented blooms to brighten up a dreary corner.
The table and chairs are about to undergo a make over. The paint is peeling badly, and I have started to remove it, but the table is particularly fiddly and it is taking a while. I haven’t decided what colour I am going to paint them yet, but it won’t be the original British racing green. Something more cheery is required.
In other news, Bracken’s blood results are back and with the exception of a raised ALP level she has, and I quote, the blood results of a much younger dog. The medication seems to be helping, and she is showing no outward signs of being ill. She is being a bit difficult and refusing to go to sleep so that I can monitor her breathing rate though. I am supposed to do that twice a day, but she seems to know and clearly she has other ideas
She has a second cardiologist appointment in the middle of June, to see if “there has been any deterioration.” When she saw the cardiologist a week ago, I didn’t get much positivity. I realise that a vet has to be a little circumspect and is unable to make any predictions, and that this will shorten Bracken’s life, but a little encouragement would be nice. Hopefully, the excellent blood results will make her a touch more positive.
